PADI Assistant Instructor Course
As a PADI Assistant Instructor you will now be able to help out and display your knowledge and experience in the classroom as well as in the water, you can even teach several courses independently!
you have already made the transition to PADI Professional, so now is your chance to face your next challenge.This course can be completed on your Next Holiday or can be taken here in England.
For current Divemasters, this next part of your journey will be considerably shorter and most definitely more intense than anything you have completed so far, taking only 4 days from start to finish to complete. (you can also complete the course over a few weeks if necessary). You will learn how to deliver classroom presentations, deliver presentations in the pool and in open water as well as developing more knowledge of PADI Standards.   Course Details    Prices

What can PADI Assistant Instructors do?
* Teach academic presentations under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
* Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
* Teach the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course
* Teach Project AWARE Specialty courses
* Conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences
* Teach Emergency First Response after successful completion of an Emergency First Response
Instructor course

How long will it take?
* The course can vary from as little as three or four days to more than two weeks

The Course Structure
Course includes all materials. It is highly recommended that students own all
of their own equipment, as familiarity with personal gear improves general
diving skills. In addition to SCUBA equipment a knife, depth gauge, compass,
timing device, tables and whistle/surface signaling device are all required for
this course.

The PADI Assistant Instructor Course consists of three modules.
* Module 1: Academic Training
* Module 2: Independent Study
* Module 3: Practical Application

Module 1
The academic training consists of seven presentations, which are designed to provide assistant instructor
candidates with the knowledge necessary to fulfil their duties.
The seven required presentations are:
* Assistant Instructor Course Orientation
* The PADI System of Diver Education
* Effective Academic Teaching Presentations - Parts 1 and 2
* How to Organise and Conduct PADI Experience Programs
* How to Organise and Conduct the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Diver Course
* Teaching in Confined Water - Part 2
* Conducting Open Water Training Dives - Part 1

Module 2
The independent study consists of two areas:
* Knowledge Reviews
* Assistant Instructor Standards Exam
Knowledge Reviews - They provide an organised study method which allows for self paced learning.
The candidates must complete the following ten knowledge reviews:
* Individualised and Programmed Instruction
* Experience Program Standards
* Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Diver Course Standards
* Confined Water Standards and Management
* Open Water Training Dive Standards
* The Dive Industry and PADI
* General Standards and Procedures
* The Business of Diving
* Legal Responsibility and Risk Management
* The Recreational Dive Planner Background and Use
Assistant Instructor Standards Exam - It is designed to test the candidates ability to reference standards
in the PADI Instructor Manual and apply those standards to teaching situations. The candidate must achieve 75% to pass.

Module 3
The Practical Application exercises enable the candidates to gain teaching experience.
There are two options:
* Role Playing Exercises
* Internship
Role Playing Exercises - These consist of eight candidate teaching presentation exercises, that allow
candidates to continually improve their presentations and develop practical teaching techniques.

The required presentations include:
* One academic micro-teaching presentation from the Open Water Diver Course.
* One academic micro-teaching presentation from the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Diver Course.
* One academic micro-teaching presentation from a continuing education course - Advanced Open Water,

Specialty, Rescue or Divemaster.
* One academic sub topic or complete module/class session from either the Open Water Diver, Advanced
Open Water, Rescue or Divemaster course.
* One confined water teaching presentation from the Open Water Diver course.
* One confined water teaching presentation from the Skin Diver course.
* One open water teaching presentation from the Open Water Diver course.
* One open water teaching presentation from the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Diver course.

Internship- This requires that the candidates assist with three certification courses and give teaching
presentations to students during those courses. This enables the candidates to gain practical teaching
experience by working with students in PADI courses.

Internship requirements include:
* Assist with three complete certification courses, attending all academic, confined water and open water training sessions.
* During a PADI Open Water Diver course:
o Present one academic micro-teaching presentation.
o Present one academic sub topic or complete module.
o Present two confined water teaching presentations.
o Present one open water teaching presentation.
* During a Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Diver course:
o Review the knowledge reviews with students - clarifying information and answering students questions.
o Present an open water teaching presentation for one or more skills.

The candidate must have 60 logged dives to begin the course and successfully complete a knowledge and
skill pre-assessment. This pre-assessment includes the Instructor pre-assessment exams in the following
areas, the candidate must achieve 75% in each subject to pass:
* Physics
* Physiology
* Equipment
* Skills and the Environment
* RDP Table and the Wheel
* PADI Skill Evaluation in confined water, where the candidate demonstrates 18 skills, with no score
less than a 3.0 out of a possible 5.0
.

The Assistant Instructor certification allows you to assist in teaching
PADI courses, plan and guide dives for certified divers, and independently
conduct several experience programs in the PADI system. With
your second "Black" C-Card you are more employable in the diving
industry! Move on to become an Open Water Instructor, and beyond.
